Today IT is — Stop Your Stinkin’ Thinkin’ May 31, 2009

Knock IT off!

Stop IT.

Quit thinking from your negative place.

As a Life Coach, I find mySELF dishing IT out to my clients , yet sometimes fall short when it comes to my own stinkin’ thinkin’.

After  a full day, it’s easy to pat myself on the back for what I can draw out of others.  They thank me, they express their gratitude, and we acknowledge delights in one another when a goal is achieved and their lives are on track.

The trick if IT– and the FUN– might I add…. Is discovering HOW to practice my own tatics, in a FUN way, to keep my own LIFE flowing with ease, and ticking off the goals I set for mySELF.

I doubt if I ever will go so far as to conduct a survey–BUT I bet most Life Coaches feel  good about overcoming their own life challenges– either through trial and error (not recommended by me- btw), or by working with a coach of their own who feels “called”– as I do…. to share what they know (aka: IT ) with others.

Here is a tip– receive IT and you can save yourSELF hours, months, even years of heartache and the large sums of money many spend on trying to discover who they are supposed to be…..

Some call IT a secret. I call IT the TRUTH.

The TRUTH of IT is :  If you stop thinking bad stuff the bad stuff will go away.

Don’t believe me?

Try IT.

(I will wait)

(waiting)

(still waiting)

Oh…..IT is not so easy is IT?

Practice makes perfect.

Today– begin to form a NEW habit — break an old one that I call a BAD habit.

Stop YOUR Stinkin’ Thinkin’.

Recently I was delighted by a series of uplifting events that were markers to mySELF, and my life — showing me I can indeed have all that I want.

Some of the visions of reaching goals I had been holding for mySELF came to pass.

I was delighted.  On cloud #9.

Within a week I found mySELF– less than elated– NOT having FUN (again).

It was a gradual let down.  Dropping from cloud #9 back to “earth” in about 7 days.

What?

Geeze– BUT I am the FUN- To- BE- ME Lady.  The Life Coach with a FUN edge and all kinds of tools and tactics, strategies, and winning ideas.  Where did my mo-jo go?

HMMMMM

I pondered.  I reflected about the events from the past.

My mind was being bombarded with thoughts like:

“This is too good to be true”

“I can’t believe it.”

“What a coincidence that these events happened the way they did.”

Check IT out!

These ponderings…the reflections…they were MY ego’s way of tricking me back into my old thought patterns.

This IS exactly what I tell my clients to beware of.

I tell them to focus directly on what is in front of them with an eye’s glimpse of what they desire for their  future.  See IT clearly, instead of reflecting on past happenings, keep your mind, body & spirit  in the NOW– moving forward– with a vision of life– as you desire IT to be.

Know who YOU are,

and

know what YOU want.

The mistake– the habit– the one I want to lose for good….

Is–

Even if the event or experience was a good one– dwelling on IT– the past….. indicates we are not in the present.

We are not living in the now when we find ourselves  reflecting and pondering about what happened yesterday, a few days ago, years ago– what have you.

Even IF its a good thing that happened.

Memories are useful to us.

Memories help us to know if the event or experience is one we would like to repeat in some way.  Do we want to duplicate the feelings and , or outcomes associated with the memory in some way again?  On the contrary, should a memory be less than satisfactory we can gain insights into what IT was we missed, to bring on bad feelings and outcomes. Did we realize IT was something we no longer desire?

What do YOU want?

What do you want to attract into your life?

We get exactly what we want every time–

Let me rephrase that:

We get exactly what we think.

So where were my thoughts as I descended from cloud #9?

They were back a week ago reveling in the joys of what HAD happened before.

What is wrong with that?

My FORWARD path became unclear.  I HAD been doing sooo well when suddenly… IT felt like I had no direction– or too many places to go.

Once I experienced the joys of vision and dreams unfolding– IT was proof once again of the wonderful abundance that surrounds us.  Anything IS possible.  I thought…hey–If I could get to here, then… where do I want to go now?

Tricky one for the FUN Lady–

What could be wrong with thinking about the past if it was good?  I HAD so much FUN.  I delighted in accomplishing what I HAD set out to do.

This is not bad thinking….OR is IT?

As I sit NOW and write this blog entry, my desire is for YOU to understand this KEY:

May IT unlock something special within YOU.

Even IF the past was good– sitting in IT for too long, suggests you do NOT have IT– TODAY.

The results of -the- “thinking about what happened over the past weekend”… thought path took me to where I was BEFORE the wonderful happenings.

To where I HAD been — (“You’ve come a long way baby”….break out your Virginia Slims?)   Side note: Do they still make that brand of smokes?

NOT to where I AM going.

I HAD focused my mind’s eye to the rear-view window.

Do we drive our cars while looking out the rear window?- No, unless we are backing up.

Even then — when backing up, we rely on the rear view mirror. The rear view is a good tool that every car is equipped with.

Once we put the car in drive we can simply check our rear view mirrors to avoid cutting someone off.  We drive FORWARD staying on the right side of the road, only checking our rear view mirrors before moving to a different lane and we signal at the same time.

Rather than basking in the glory of what came to pass– I could have chosen to immediately build upon IT, to make a new plan NOW that I HAVE reached a goal– arrived at my destination.

Good thing I stopped my thought in its tracks.

Keeping with the car metaphor– once I began to feel lower , rather than taking a bunch of wrong turns, I pulled over to the side.

I chose to check the map before getting more lost.

I saw that I was thinkin’ in the past.  That lead me to the place of how things WERE before.  NOT to where I want them to be soon.

Stinkin’ Thinkin’ can take us to the land of the lost.  Deep into the emotional struggles of what we had to go through in order to get here.

Then — because our thoughts  focus on the bad stuff or the old stuff again– we can begin to feel BAD.

It sure is easy to WANT to NOT think about BAD stuff- but actually practicing IT …

Living in the “pleasant” …..

is not always as easy to DO as it is to understand.

Follow your map.

Use it daily.

Keep your mind in the NOW.

If you are driving toward a new destination in your LIFE, you may not know where your next turn is– so refer to your road  map.  If you do not have a map, you can ask someone who is familiar with the area for guidance.  Contact me via email at : funtobemeinc@aol.com or go to my web site: http://www.funtobeme.com
